Moss and the woodland fairies

justwalkingthedogw

It’s warm in the UK at the moment up to 25°c in the afternoons.  Moss and I are sticking to the shade of the woods, which means we see what’s going on day to day.  I’ve noticed some camps popping up in the woods.  Whilst I know it’s not strictly speaking legal, I like the fact the people want to camp outside, to hear the dawn chorus and sleep among our beautiful trees.

I noticed a very feminine looking campsite in a glade.  It was well positioned, it had little solar fairy lights and was even decorated with a pot of flowers.  It looked so well cared for that Moss and I christened the camp the woodland fairies.

At the weekend Harry husband, Moss and I walked together in the woods.  We went past the woodland fairies campsite, and commented on how charming it seemed to be.

Close by the camp Moss discovered three women dressed up with flowers in their hair dancing about and doing some kind of ceremony.  It seemed innocent enough, except they certainly weren’t at all amused at being joined by Moss our enthusiastic collie dog.

I completely accept that not everyone likes dogs, so we walked on.

This morning in the heat, Moss and I did the same walk.  We went via the woodland fairiescampsite again.

It had been abandoned.

The woodland fairies had left a pile of their rubbish - cardboard, an old chair, a broken tent - even the pot of flowers.

It reminded me of abandoned tents after a festival.

What, I wonder, are our kids supposed to think if fairies behave like that?
